Frequently asked questions

Are my documents stored?

No. The file is deleted as soon as processing ends. With pseudonymisation, the mapping table is handed to you and we keep no copy.

Can redacted text be recovered?

No: the text under each area is removed from the file and the metadata is erased. It is not just a black box drawn on top.

What is the difference between redacting and pseudonymising?

Redacting deletes the data for good. Pseudonymising replaces it with a reference such as [NAME_1], which you can put back later using the mapping table.

Are scans and handwriting supported?

Printed text in scans is recognised. Handwriting and signatures are not: check them and redact them by hand.

Is the result anonymous under the GDPR?

We remove the identifiers we detect. Context may still make a person identifiable: read the document again before sharing it.
